A Premier League referee allegedly said this about former Liverpool coach and he is now suspended

This Sunday, the Premier League referee David Coote was running around Anfield with his whistle, officiating the Liverpool vs. Aston Villa match (2-0). However, on Monday, he received news of his suspension pending the outcome of an investigation launched against him by the English Referees' Organization (PGMOL). The 42-year-old referee has been officiating top-tier English football matches since 2018 and has done so six times this season. However, it’s now uncertain if — or when — he will have that opportunity again.

Coote has been suspended for a video allegedly showing him disrespecting Liverpool and calling former manager Jurgen Klopp an ‘arrogant German ****’. The video is said to have been recorded in 2020 after Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Burnley. Liverpool's players and manager were reportedly furious with Coote, feeling he had wronged them by not awarding a penalty for a handball and missing several fouls in their favor. After the match, Klopp publicly criticized Coote, who reportedly commented in the video that he disliked Klopp because "he lies," along with a few expletives directed at the German manager.

Liverpool were sh‘t. Klopp is a ****, absolute ****. Aside from having a right pop at me when I was refereeing them against Burnley in lockdown, he accused me of lying and then had a right f***ing pop of me. I have no interest in speaking to someone who is f***ing arrogant. So I do my best not to speak to him. James Milner is all right, I get on with him. You can see me there with a ‘mask’ on. But, my god, German ****, f*** me“ said the man alleged to be Coote in the video.

If it is proved that he is indeed in the video and that this recording is genuine, and not a faked product, he will be in trouble. David Coote is a known supporter of Notts County, a fact he revealed in February of this year, dispelling accusations that he favored Manchester United after he didn’t issue Casemiro a red card during a match against Luton. Given his Nottingham roots, Coote is prohibited from officiating matches involving both Notts County and Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Although Jürgen Klopp left Liverpool, the Premier League, and England at the end of last season, the resurfaced video has stirred significant controversy in the UK.
