The varsity side has won two of their three matches so far, dropping points away to Nakuru City Queens
Zetech Sparks, third on the Women Premier League (WPL) log after three rounds, travel to Vihiga this weekend to face off with newbies Madira Soccer Assassins as they chase their third win of the season.
Coach Bernard Kitolo says they are in the final stages of preparation before hitting the road on Friday for the Sunday, October 29, clash, slated for 11 a.m. at Mumboha Stadium, as he preaches caution to his charges.
The varsity side has won two of their three matches so far against Trans Nzoia Falcons and Bunyore Starlets and lost to to Nakuru City Queens, while the Assassins opened their account last weekend with a massive 5-0 win over Trans Nzoia Falcons.

“This is a first meeting in the league, but we had an opportunity to play the national U20 team, the Rising Starlets, ahead of their World Cup qualifier matches against Angola, and the team is home to seven players from the Assassins team, so we are not completely blind to what these players are capable of. They are a good side, as was evidenced on the weekend against the Falcons,” Kitolo explained.
The tactician has welcomed the return of Ann Arusi and Rebecca Kwoba who were away with the Rising Starlets during the side’s loss to Nakuru. The duo was instrumental in Sparks’ win over Bunyore Starlets on the weekend, scoring all four goals for the varsity side.
“As we head to the weekend clash, I have emphasized concentration, minimizing our mistakes, keeping the ball, and containing the Assassins’ speed. Away matches are always tough, so we have to be cautious in our approach while giving our all as we chase a third win.
That slip against Nakuru was not part of our plans, but we will keep pushing, taking it one match at a time as we look to challenge for the title,” Kitolo added.
Holders Vihiga Queens headline the standings on seven points after three matches, with Ulinzi Starlets second on the log, a point behind.
