They were not evenly-matched sides at all, Munich greats were so dominant, yet they draw against the underdogs (1-1) and should be thrilled

What an upset, what a shock that could have been! Bayern Munich have almost lost for the first time this season at Allianz Arena, despite being a much better side. However, they conceded early against Koln, and despite a dozen promising chances, they only managed to grab a point thanks to Joshua Kimmich's late belter, 1-1.

The Bavarians' forward line, packed with the likes of Sane, Musiala, Choupo-Moting, and Koman, couldn't find the way to the back of Koln's net for almost 90 minutes. Overthinking in the last third cost them two points, as Koln's defenders and a spectacular keeper managed to punish the giant's lack of simplicity in the area.

On the other end, the minnows struck cleverly and suddenly in the first half after a perfect set-pieces display. Chabot chipped it on the near post for unmarked Skhiri on the far post, and it was lethal enough for Bayern's newcomer between the posts, Yann Sommer.

His teammates were shallow in the offence and struggled in fighting the stubborn rivals as the clock kept ticking. Thankfully for Bayern, unlike his offensive counterparts, defender Kimmich made it all look easy and simple - and extraordinary. He fired from 'downtown', placing it high in the left corner for a dramatic, near-the-stoppage-time equalizer. The second draw in a row for the Bavarians in 2023.
