Despite the loss, Mukima remained confident of recovering in the next round and achieving the set targets.

Kibera Black Stars head coach Samwel Mukima has attributed their loss in the opening match of the new National Super League season to a lack of concentration in the closing stages of the game.

The Black Stars lost 2-0 to debutants Nairobi United at the Ligi Ndogo grounds, with the latter scoring the goals in the final ten minutes of the closely contested match.

The Naibois got their goals through Brian Lusamukha and Isaac Omweri in the 81st and 85th minutes of the game to condemn Kibera to a home defeat.

Mukima, who took over last month, replacing Evans Ogutu, regretted that the team got punished for failing to concentrate up to the final whistle.

"We played well, but lapses in concentration in the last ten minutes cost us maximum points," said the youthful coach.

Further, Mukima lamented the wastefulness in front of the goal for the defeat, as he noted that his charges created clear-cut chances but couldn't utilize them.

"We had our scoring chances, but we wasted them. If we had taken them, we would have salvaged at least a point from the game," he offered.

Despite the loss, Mukima remained confident of recovering in the next round and achieving the set targets.

The Black Stars lost a number of key players last season and were forced to beef up the playing unit as well as the technical bench.

"The defeat does not mean that we will have a bad season or we will not achieve our targets. We will redeem ourselves and go for what we had planned for the season," he added.
