Thika remain unbeaten in nine matches while Gaspo lost their two league opening fixtures and will be looking to reduce the gap between them and Thika to just five points with a win

Women Premier League (WPL) zone A leaders Thika Queens play away to second placed Gaspo Women at the Ruiru Grounds in a clash that has all the indicators of a thriller.

Thika remain unbeaten in nine matches while Gaspo lost their two league opening fixtures and will be looking to reduce the gap between them and Thika to just five points with a win.

The two sides are star studded, with Thika having re-acquired the services of Esse Akida who featured in the Benta Achieng-coached side's 2-0 win over Ulinzi Starlets last weekend. Achieng took over the reins at Thika following the exit of Richard Kanyi ahead of the second leg.

"Against Ulinzi we lost many scoring chances and committed fouls that could easily result in opponent goals. Those are areas we have had to work on and we will be fighting to get that win against Gaspo. We will also stick to our style of play. Last weekend we played Ulinzi's game I the first half and that almost cost us a win," said Achieng.

On their side, Gapso have also recaptured midfielder Corazone Aquino and are also under a new tactician, former Kariobangi Sharks assistant coach Ayub Shaka who took over from Isaac Maluki. Gaspo won their last match, the Ruiru derby, 4-0 against Zetech Sparks.

Meanwhile, Joseph Mwanza-coached Ulinzi are on a redemption mission when they play Kayole Starlet at Stima Club. The military side lost to Thika in the second leg opener last weekend. The loss saw them relegate second place to Gaspo who won.

Currently at 15 points, Ulinzi have a chance to go back second on the log with a win over Kayole in the event Gaspo do not pick a win in their fixture.

" We have gone back to the drawing board and worked on our finishing which was our main undoing in the Thika loss. We are strategising for each match depending on the opponent and I am confident my players will do well in the Kayole match," said coach Mwanza
