Tore Bobe last held elections in September 2021. Nearly five years later, the same office remains in charge as it charts the club’s direction both on and off the pitch.
In the 2021 polls, Nyandoro Kambi was elected chairman, deputised by Wycliffe Ayienda as vice chairman and Mohsin Khan as second vice chairman. Kerama assumed the role of secretary general, assisted by Evans Kibagendi as vice secretary.
The club’s financial docket went to Bosire Anyoka as treasurer and Selina Nyaboke as vice treasurer, while Stephen Kiama took up the organizing secretary position and Violet Momanyi became public relations officer.
Wilfred Riang’a, Albert Ocharo and Simon Oriosa were elected as committee members.
Speaking in an interview with a local radio station, Kerama said the current leadership cannot remain in office indefinitely and urged members to prepare their voting cards ahead of the next electoral process.
“The current leadership cannot remain in office forever, and the club will eventually need fresh, energetic leaders to take over when the right time for elections comes,” he said.
Although he did not disclose the exact date for the elections, sources indicate that preparations could begin later this year after the conclusion of the current season.
Kerama acknowledged the weight of leading a community club, revealing that when the current management took over, several individuals declined leadership roles due to the heavy responsibilities involved.
“Shabana FC is a community club that requires leaders who are not only committed but also willing to invest their own resources and possess genuine passion for the team,” he said.
He added that managing a community football club comes with significant pressure, particularly when results are poor and frustrations are directed at the leadership. The club, he noted, also contends with blackmail and sabotage attempts from individuals who wish to see it fail.
Away from governance matters, Kerama reaffirmed the club’s commitment to youth development. Shabana has partnered with Nyanchwa Boys High School and Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho to nurture grassroots football talent.
He said the club’s scouting teams continue to identify promising players across Kisii and Nyamira counties, while also supporting learners from needy families through scholarships within the Gusii region.
“Beyond sports, Shabana FC is equally committed to ensuring that young talents have access to education,” Kerama said, underscoring the club’s broader social responsibility within the community.
