FC Talanta are beefing up their squad ahead of their top flight bow.

After gaining promotion to the FKF PL, FC Talanta have embarked on strengthening their squad ahead of their debut at the top level.

The club is interested in signing ex Harambee Stars striker Paul Kiongera, former Posta Rangers left-back Evans Maliachi, and ex Sofapaka forward, Collins Wakhungu.

Both Kiongera and Wakhungu are immediate former Sofapaka players who left the team before the end of the 2020/21 season over nonpayment of their salaries and they could be on their way to the Communication Authority (CA) sponsored side. Maliachi too is a free agent after he was shown the door by Posta a week ago.

Maliachi and Kiongera both worked with the current FC Talanta coach Ken Kenyatta at Ushuru FC and the tactician is now keen on reuniting with the pair, Wakhungu too could be brought on board to boost the team’s forward line.

“It is true we are interested in signing the three players but we are still at the talking stage. They are all free agents and it is all about discussing personal terms and if we reach an agreement then they will be our players in the coming days. We have shortlisted a few others for signing and we are also in talks with them,” a member of the Talanta bench told Mozzart Sport.

Talanta are the current NSL leaders and have already won the second-tier title, they will be feted on Sunday afternoon at the Gems Cambridge Grounds. The second automatic promotion spot and the playoff slots are up for grabs.

Apart from the three, Talanta are also said to be interested in signing Silibwet Leos captain Stephen Orare and Shabana FC midfield dynamo, Brian Michira.
