Kenyan midfielder was at the center of Everton's win over Derby County as he provided his second assist of the season.

Kenyan midfielder Tyler Onyango’s star continues to rise at Everton as he provided an assist in the 1-3 win over Derby County on Monday, February 1 in the Premier League2

This was his second assist of the season after playing 13 matches where he has managed to chip in with two goals against Chelsea and Blackburn Under 23 sides.

With the game locked in a 1-1 draw, up stepped Onyango in the 71st minute who hustled the ball off Cameron Cresswell at the halfway line and went on a powering run as the Derby defenders retreated.

The 17-year-old then laid off the ball to Nathan Broadhead on the left-hand side of the box to fire the ball in for his second of the game.

Broadhead had opened the scoring for Everton in the 33rd minute when he got the end of a long pass from Joseph Anderson in his own half to calmly slot the ball into the bottom right corner.

Their Small assured the maximum points for Everton with an 89th minute when Broadwhite was denied a hat-trick following a brilliant save but the ball fell to Small to score his third of the season.

Onyango was however booked in the 47th minute for a rugby-like tackle on Cresswell after grabbing him by the shoulder and pulling him down when Derby had set themselves up for a counter.

The midfielder has had a whirlwind fortnight as he made his senior debut for Everton in the 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Wednesday, January 24.

The lanky player was born to a Kenyan father, Evans Onyango and British mother, Amy and is eligible to play for Harambee Stars having only featured for the England U17 side where he made two appearances.

Sports run in the blood of the Onyango family as his uncles, Allan, Duncan and Patrick Onyango played for Kenya Harlequins and Kenya Sevens.

He joined Everton at the age of eight with the club describing him as a “skillful, athletic midfielder, who reads the game well and boasts impressive stamina”.
