Kenyan International wins prestigious awards in Ireland

Ireland based Harambee Stars prospect Wilson Waweru has been named Galway United's Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2021 seaason.

Statistics show that the Ireland born forward finished the season as the club's second highest scorer with eight goals, one shy of Ruairi Keating's tally.

Waweru, who had expressed desire to hit double digits before the season began, had also been named the Fans Player of the Year earlier in the week.

The forward broke into the scene when he was promoted to the Galway senior team in 2018 while at 17 after impressing in the youth team.

The 21-year old, who has openly expressed desire to play for the Kenyan National team, Harambee Stars, began his career at non-league side Mervue United at the age of seven. His performances in the junior side spanning to a decade paid off when the first team manager John Caulfied elevated him to the senior team but first, he had to content with limited playing time.
