Clarke Oduor will be hoping to be third time lucky after twice missing promotion to the EPL with Leeds United and Barnsley.

Kenyan international Clarke Oduor’s dream of playing in the English Premier League was quashed by Swansea City who beat Barnsley in Championship Promotion Playoffs.

Clarke Oduor

The 21-year-old missed from the matchday squad with head coach Valerien Ismaël deeming him surplus to requirements as he is yet to make an appearance this year.

Swansea went into the clash with an upper hand after winning the first leg 1-0 courtesy of a brilliant solo effort from Andre Ayew.

The Welsh side took the lead six minutes from the halftime break through Matt Grimes whose nonchalant finish just inside the box fired them in front.

Cauley Woodrow restored parity for Barnsley in the 71st minute who placed the ball into the bottom left corner after a cut back from Jordan Williams

Barnsley set up a tense finale to the game but Swansea held on for the aggregate win to set up a final against Brentford who dramatically eliminated Bournemouth in the other semi-final.

Victor Wanyama

Kenyan international Victor Wanyama and Club de Foot Montréal suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of struggling FC Cincinnati in the Major Soccer League (MLS).

After a drab first half, Djordje Mihailovic finally broke the deadlock for Montréal in the 56th minute, tapping into an open net from point-blank range after Rommel Quioto rounded the keeper to cut back the ball.

Cincinnati however rallied from behind and drew level in the 70th minute through Jurgen Locadia who nodded the ball into the net.

Gustavo Vallecilla handed Cincinnati an 86th minute lead courtesy of a diving header to guide Ronald Matarrita’s inswinging freekick to pick up their first win of the season.
