Ochieng has inked a one-year deal with the capital based club.
Kenyan international Bernard Ochieng has joined Ethiopian Premier League side Ethiopia Medin FC following the relegation of Arba Minch City FC.
The central defender had to part ways with Arba as Ethiopian football laws do not allow foreigners to grace their second tier. Compatriot Erick Kapaito returned home and signed for Tusker FC a fortnight ago.
The pair turned out for Arba for two seasons before it was relegated. They both joined the club in 2021, Kapaito signing from Kariobangi Sharks and Ochieng from the now-defunct Wazito FC.
Medin, also known as Ethiopian Insurance Football Club, are based in the city of Addis Ababa. They finished in the third position in the log last season, and it is a team that Ochieng will be hoping performs better in the coming campaign.
The player has expressed his delight at signing for the capital-based club and promised to give his best to the team in the coming season that commences in October.
"Yes, I have joined Ethiopia Insurance, and I am excited about this fresh journey. This is a special club, and as I have always done wherever I go, I am going to give my best for the club. I want to play my part in the success of the team, and the fans can expect high standards from me," the former Wazito FC captain told Mozzart Sport.
Formed in 1975, Medin plays their games at the 35,00-seater Addis Ababa Stadium.
Ochieng has previously played for Bidco United, Vihiga United, and Wazito FC. He is also a full Kenyan international and was part of the Kenya team at the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
