Police FC’s next challenge is a tricky away match against Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias on Wednesday.

Kenya Police FC head coach Etienne Ndayiragije has dismissed suggestions that his team are favorites to win the league title, insisting his focus remains solely on collecting maximum points in the remaining fixtures.

The tactician maintains that only at the end of the season will it be clear whether the title is theirs.

The law enforcers currently sit atop the league table with 58 points, three ahead of second-placed Tusker FC and five above defending champions Gor Mahia, who have a game in hand after the Mashemeji Derby was postponed.

After a shaky start to the season, Police FC have found form and are now just four matches away from potentially securing their first-ever league title. If they win all four games, the historic triumph will be within reach. They are also still in contention for the Mozzart Bet Cup, underlining a season of strong resurgence.

Despite the positive outlook, Ndayiragije remains grounded. The Burundian coach, widely credited for transforming the team’s fortunes, is not letting the current lead get to his head.

“Right now, it looks like Police have the trophy in their hands, but we haven’t won it yet. Our focus is on taking each game as it comes and securing as many points as possible. We can’t afford to talk about the title just yet. There’s still a lot of football to be played,” he said.

Police FC’s next challenge is a tricky away match against Kakamega Homeboyz in Mumias on Wednesday. Ndayiragije expects a tough encounter.

“We are facing Homeboyz in Kakamega, and it won’t be easy. We know we’ll have to work hard to get the job done,” he added.

Their title chase was given a huge boost on Friday when they edged out Bandari FC 1-0 in Mombasa, thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Marvin Nabwire. The coach acknowledged the narrow win, noting the team’s struggles to convert chances.

“It was a difficult game against a well-organized side. We created opportunities but failed to finish most of them. It was tough to see someone like Bajaber (Mohammed) miss the chances he had, but that’s part of the game. What matters is that we got the three points. Full credit to Bandari – they really tested us, and I wish them all the best in the rest of the season,” Ndayiragije concluded.
