The law enforcers are on a horrid run of one win in seven matches, and remain six points behind joint leaders Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards

Kenya Police head coach Dusan Stojanovic says he is under no pressure, despite seeing his side drop more points on Wednesday, 14 January, as his side settled for a 1-1 draw with lowly Mara Sugar.

Stojanovic, who joined the law enforcers in November, had been reported to have been staring at an exit from the club, given his run of form that included just one win out of the last six matches.

The rumors would surely have grown louder at the sound of the final whistle on Wednesday, when the Serb failed to buck the trend; his side letting an early lead slip, to extend its winless run to five games.

In the match, new signing Yves Koutiama scored the opening goal for Police in the second minute, before the visitors equalized via a set-piece shortly after the half-hour mark, a result that left the defending champions five points off joint leaders Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

Responding to a question on whether he was now under pressure, Stojanovic cut a smile, saying: “No pressure. No pressure. Guys, this is football. This is the game, and facts are facts.

We are still in the pace of defending the trophy. Yes we are, because the difference is not too big - just two, three games, and you are there.”

On any other day, Police would have walked away with maximum points, given the clear-cut chances they created, but failed to convert.

Later on in the game, Geoffrey Onyango saw a headed chance cleared off the line by Robinson Muzungu, just moments after substitute striker David Simiyu had been stopped by goalkeeper Evans Ouma.

Reacting to his side’s profligacy, Stajanovic said: “We deserved more, but we got the draw. We spoke before the game that we needed to convert our chances.

We are creating so many chances, but we are not converting them, and this is that. We pushed up to the maximum, and the boys gave it their all, but it was not enough to get all the three points. We need to put in more effort.”

Out of their last seven matches, Police have scored just four goals, and Stojanovic, who was for the first time joined by Nicholas Muyoti on his technical bench, will need his squad firing, to at least make his stay a tad more comfortable.
