Kelechi on fire as Leicester dismantle Wilder-less Blades

Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 14.03.21. | 18:49

Leicester City climbed into second spot in the Premier League after a comprehensive victory over a toothless Sheffield United side

Kelechi Iheanacho extended his scoring run to three games in a row as he hit a magnificent hat-trick in a match that propelled the Foxes up to second place. It was a fantastic day for the Blues as they absolutely annihilated United. The Foxes’ manager Brendan Rodgers must be thrilled to see his team firing on all cylinders. Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans were bossing the midfield and allowed their forward players to run riot. Kelechi got the only goal in the first half in which the visitors worked hard to contain the opposition attacks, but in which they couldn’t create anything going forward.

A frantic 15-minute period in the second half proved to be the undoing of the Premier League’s basement side as Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez produced an attacking masterclass in helping the awesome Iheanacho to get a hat-trick.

Sheffield United got rid of their manager Chris Wilder, a move that was met with dismay by their supporters, considering all the brilliant things their former player has achieved with the Blades. Although heading for relegation, the club directors decided to let Wilder go and were made to pay the price instantly. They were soundly beaten at King Power Stadijum in a match that highlighted a huge rift in quality. In the end, they might even feel lucky to escape with just five goals conceded.

Leicester City are heading to the Champions League and it’s absolutely deserved. They are playing an exciting and efficient brand of football while they’re also defensively solid.
