Leeds win at Accrington, Leicester edge past Wallsall

Leeds United and Leicester City made it through the fifth round of the FA Cup with wins over lower-division opponents.

A player who could make a transfer from one of those clubs to another, Jack Harrison scored a stunning goal for Leeds United as they celebrated a 3-1 win over League One club Accrington Stanley.

Harrison fired a left-footer into the bottom-right corner after Patrick Bamford's lay-off to hand his team the lead halfway through the first half.

The Yorkshire team got the deserved second goal when Junior Firpo linked up brilliantly with Bamford, with the striker's pass allowing the left-back to score his first Leeds goal. Luis Sinisterra then sealed Leeds' comfortable win when he guided home Harrison's well-timed pass.

Accrington got a consolation goal when 18-year-old substitute Leslie Adekoya scored his first senior goal with a chip over Illan Meslier, just 38 seconds after coming on.

Jesse Marsch's Leeds side have gone six Premier League games without victory but the FA Cup is providing solace and could add confidence that boosts their survival fight.

Leicester were pushed even closer by League Two Walsall only to be bailed out by FA Cup specialist Kelechi Iheanacho. The Nigerian has scored more goals in the competition than any other player since making his debut in 2016.

Iheanacho's 17th goal in 23 FA Cup appearances had some fortune as his strike from the edge of the box took a wicked deflection for the only goal 23 minutes from time.

Leeds and Leicester join Manchester City as the first three sides to book their place in the last 16 of the cup.
