Oduor says the goalkeeping coach will guide the club on the issue after Sydney ditched the club for Bidco

KCB assistant coach Godfrey ‘Solo’ Oduor says they are yet to make a decision on whether to replace goalkeeper Sidney Oduor who left the club for Bidco United a fortnight ago.

Oduor, the Bankers’ third-choice keeper returned to his former side after two seasons with KCB where he barely featured. With his departure, the Bankers are left with Gabriel Andika and Byrne Omondi in the goalkeeping department and are starring at a crisis in case any of the two picks an injury or is suspended.

Asked whether they are in the market for a new shot-stopper, Oduor said they are yet to make a decision on the same. He further clarified that it is the prerogative of the goalkeeping coach Charles ‘Korea’ Omondi to guide the club on the same.

“Yes we are left with two keepers right now after Oduor left but I do not want to speak much about it because we have a goalkeeping coach who handles that department. He will be the one to guide us on which keeper to sign if he feels there is a need to bring one on board,” Solo said.

The Bankers were busy during the off-season transfer window and brought on board 13 players; among them is goalkeeper Omondi who was recruited from Mathare United. The club parted ways with David Okello who was since retired and returned to Sofapaka as the goalkeeper’s coach.

The 2020/21 league runners-up were underwhelming and after getting names like Maurice Ojwang, Francis Kahiro, Danson Chetambe, Kevin Okumu, Nicholas Kipkirui, Harun Mwale, and Kennedy Owino, they are expected to contest for the league title next season.
