KCB FC pick Matano as head coach, reinforces bench

KCB Football Club has appointed Robert Matano as the new head coach, strengthening the technical bench ahead of the 2025/2026 FKF Premier League season.

Matano will be joined by John Njogu, a seasoned and respected figure in the local football scene, who steps into the role of trainer on the technical bench.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony at Kencom, Nairobi, KCB FC patron Azu Ogolla said, “Today marks a significant milestone for KCB Football Club.

In Matano, we welcome a highly accomplished coach with an outstanding track record, proven leadership, and a winning mentality. His wealth of experience and championship pedigree make him the ideal candidate to guide the team into a new era of success.”

Matano returns to the country after a short spell in Tanzania, bringing with him a remarkable legacy of success.

Renowned for his winning mentality, the veteran tactician has guided multiple teams to championship glory, including an impressive four Kenya Premier League titles with different clubs.

Matano’s career has been defined by an appealing football philosophy, tactical discipline, and a deep commitment to youth development.

He has been instrumental in nurturing several Kenyan internationals and is widely recognized for instilling professionalism, mental toughness, and a winning culture within his teams.
