Nanyendo believes that consistency is essential for his side to reach their potential and season goals.

KCB centre-back Nashon Nanyendo has urged his teammates to maintain consistency if they are to achieve their season targets.

The bankers returned to winning ways on Sunday with a 4-1 thumping of the Nairobi City Stars at the Kasarani Annex in a game that they would have easily won by a bigger margin as they threw away more easy goal-scoring chances.

Benard Mwalala's men are now third on the table, five points behind log leader Posta Rangers. KCB missed out on the FKF-PL title last season after finishing fifth on 64 points, six points behind eventual winners Gor Mahia on the final day of the season.

Nanyendo believes that consistency is essential for his side to reach their potential and season goals.

"Last season, we came so close to the title but missed out at the final stages of the season. We have had a great start, but I believe if we are to attain our ambitions for the year, then we need to be consistent in our performance," he said.

KCB are yet to register back-to-back wins, and up next for the bankers is a home tie against Sofapaka, who are rooted at the bottom of the log. Nanyendo hopes they can register two wins in a row for the first time in the season and close the gap on Rangers.

"The point difference with Rangers is four, which I believe is manageable, and we can do so by closing in on them by winning tomorrow. We face a tricky side, but we need the points as well. A win on Wednesday will be important, and hopefully it will mark back-to-back wins, a run that we haven't achieved so far," he added.

The hard-tackling defender struggled to find playing time in the second half of the previous season but has been essential at the back for coach Mwalala since the start of the season. Nanyendo is happy with the trust bestowed on him and vows to keep working hard in order to keep his starting berth on the team.

"I did not find much playing time come my way last season, more so in the second leg, nonetheless have been able to find my way back in the team. It always frustrates me to sit out, but I am keen on working hard to maintain my position in the squad," he concluded.
