KBC to air two matches this weekend

The Football Kenya Federation on November 30, 2023, entered into a seven-year deal with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, (KBC) as its official FKF Premier League Free to Air (FTA) broadcast partner

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) is set to return this weekend with several mouthwatering clashes lined up after a short break to pace the way for the Mozzart Bet Cup games.

Fans who may not make it to stadiums will have a chance to watch two matches on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024 after the league’s free-to-air broadcasting partner Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) announced plans to beam live the matches.

The move, confirmed on Wednesday evening by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), will see the league’s television partner air its first set of games after sealing the FKF Premier League Free to Air (FTA) broadcast partnership for the next seven years back in November.

The first game that will be aired is Saturday’s showdown between Sofapaka and KCB FC slated for a 4 pm kickoff at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The Bankers currently sit seventh on the log with 29 points, nine more than the Sofapaka who have had a disastrous first leg.

The encounter between Tusker and Bidco United that was initially scheduled for Kenyatta Stadium is now set for Police Sacco Stadium on Saturday and it will form part of the second match to be beamed by the National Broadcaster as per the communication from the country football governing body FKF.

The Football Kenya Federation on November 30, 2023, entered into a seven-year deal with Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, (KBC) as its official FKF Premier League Free to Air (FTA) broadcast partner. The partnership came months after the Federation signed a broadcasting deal with Azam TV as their official pay TV partner.

The deal will see the Federation receive USD 1,250,000 Million for the first season, with an increment of USD 100,000 for the subsequent seasons. KBC, on its part, shall air a total of 68 matches, two every match week, on its TV and Radio platforms.

This partnership will go a long way in making Kenyan football more accessible for viewership to every household. This exposure will not only increase the commercial value of the league but shall also aid in our long-term vision of making the FKF Premier League self-sustainable,” said FKF President Nick Mwendwa during the announcement of the deal last year.
