Umaru Kasumba earned Bandari a vital point on the road against struggling Wester Stima.
Western Stima and Bandari shared the spoils after playing to a one-all draw in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match played on Friday at the Moi Stadium Kisumu.
Ken Odhiambo scored the opener for Stima in the 51st minute before substitute Umaru Kasumba ensured that the spoils were shared with a goal in the 68th minute, his first for the club.
Bandari had the first chance of the game in the third minute when they won a free-kick at the edge of the area, William Wadri stepped forward to take it but his thunderous effort was easily saved by Stephen Otieno in Stima's goal. Five minutes later, forgotten man Yema Mwana found himself in a prime position but his resultant effort hit the side netting.
Visibly overwhelmed in the opening stages, Stima opted to sit deep and try to beat the visitors on the break. Their first opportunity came in the 18th minute but Justin Ndikumana pulled a massive save from a Baron Oketch cracker. Moments later Felly Mulumba did well to clear a dangerous cross from Oketch with Stima forwards in the area ready to pounce.
In the 41st minute, Stephen Otieno on Stima goal kept his side in the game with two fantastic saves. He first denied Wadri before pulling another save on rebound to deny Mwana. The first half ended even.
Oketch was proving to be a thorn in the flesh of Bandari defenders and in the 49th minute, he forced a huge save from Ndikumana with a fantastic long-range shot. Two minutes later, they got the opener through Ken Odhiambo who fired past Ndikumana from close range. The Dockers responded by making three changes: Darius Msagha, Danson Chetambe and Yema Mwana went off for Benjamin Mosha, Umaru Kasumba and Wilberforce Lugogo.
Kasumba then got his first goal for Bandari when he rose high to head home an Abdallah Hassan cross in the 68th minute.
The chances dried up as the clock ticked and in the end, the spoils were shared.
