Fortune Sacco forward Jacob Kareno is braced up for the forthcoming Football Kenya Federation Division One league scheduled to start next weekend.
Fortune and APS Bomet are listed to play in the third tier after giving last season's National Super League activities wide berths citing court proceedings that dragged on for the better part of the campaign.
The two teams, alongside others, moved to the Sports Disputes Tribunal challenging the nullification of the 2021-2022 season where the two ran away with the two automatic promotion slots.
Bomet had won the Super League with Fortune finishing second; a run that meant that the two teams had secured promotion to the top tier.
However, FKF National Executive Committee nullified the season as it was manned by the government-installed football committees and subsequently, all promotions were revoked.
With the third tier season set to kick off next week, Kareno says he is looking forward to helping the team scale back to the second tier and regain the fame it had.
"I am ready for the new campaign. I can't wait to play competitive matches again while in a Fortune shirt. I have been waiting for the moment the team will return to action," said Kareno.
The 21-year old revealed that he was forced to stay out of action for more than a season following the decision taken by his club.
He said he had to turn to other jobs to keep him active even as he featured for a number of clubs in various tournaments played in the region.
"I didn't sign for another team after Fortune decided to wait for the court process. I however trained on a daily basis and played in as many tournaments as possible," added Kareno.
