The 2020-2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League’s Most Valuable Player Erick Kapaito is targeting to score at least 10 goals in the top flight for Tusker FC.

The former Kariobangi Sharks striker was unveiled by the brewers on Wednesday after making a u-turn on an earlier decision to join Zambian Super League side Zanaco.

Kapaito had been announced by the club alongside former Gor Mahia defender Dennis Ng'ang'a but he will now feature for the Ruaraka-based side in the FKFPL.

Speaking to the club's media, Kapaito revealed that making the decision to join the Robert Matano-coached side was not a hard task, adding that he is raring to get started when the league kicks off.

"It is a great feeling and a blessing to play for one of the biggest teams in the country. The club has been winning the league and have good ideologies thus it was not difficult making the decision to join once I was approached. I do not have pressure. I have learnt how to handle pressure in the years I have played from the lower levels and I will use any form of pressure to build myself. The team picked me to score goals and I pray I remain fit to help the team score goals. As a striker, you have to score to help the team win, and hitting double digits at a personal level will be very good," the two-time golden boot winner in the FKFPL said.

The 27-year-old termed his stay in Ethiopia a learning experience, noting that he is hopeful to utilize the lessons picked.

"It was a great experience and I believe I learnt a lot from that side and it will help me back home," he added.

Kapaito, won the MVP as well as the top scorer’s award in 2021 courtesy of the 24 goals he scored for Kariobangi Sharks in the 2020-2021 season.

He also won the Kenya Premier League’s Most Valuable Player in the 2017-2018 season which he finished with 16 goals.

Kapaito opened his national team goal account in March 2021 in a friendly match against Tanzania which ended 2-1 in favor of Harambee Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium.
