Kapaito double sends Tusker second as Talanta salvage a point against Homeboyz

In another early kickoff match in Thika, Alex Kipruto scored late to salvage a point for FC Talanta
Tusker FC on Saturday afternoon made their best attempts to bridge the gap between themselves and leaders Gor Mahia by beating Muhoroni Youth 2-1 in an early FKF Premier League match played at Muhoroni Stadium.

After a minutes delay due to unavailability of security officials, the visitors enjoyed a bright start to the game as Eric Kapaito came close with a flicked header from Daniel Sakari’s throw in the 10th minute.
Michael Kibwage then made a critical intervention to block Jackson Green's shot as he broke through on goal.
But it was Tusker who broke the deadlock shortly after the half-hour mark as Kapaito glanced in his header past Larry Potter from a short corner routine by Sakari and John Njuguna.
One soon became two in the second half when Kapaito again glanced in a header from Eric Zakayo’s cross in the 50th minute before Adebowale Samuel pulled a goal back for Muhoroni with ten minutes to go, making it a tense finish for the Brewers.
Robert Matano’s men however held on, clinching their 12th win of the season that now takes them second on the log with 40 points.
As for Muhoroni, their 10th defeat of the season means they remain in the relegation-promotion position, and three points off safety.
In another early kickoff match played at Thika Stadium, 12th placed Talanta FC rescued a point from visitors Kakamega Homeboyz as Alex Kipruto scored with four minutes remaining to earn a 1-1 draw.
Following a barren draw in the first half, it was Kakamega Homeboyz that broke the deadlock two minutes after the break when Shafik Batambuze slotted in a penalty after Oliver Machaka had been brought down inside the box.
Talanta, on 26 points, are now winless in the last five games and with three consecutive draws, while Homeboyz remain seventh with 34 points.
