Kapaito is yet to hit his dizzying heights in Ethiopia but moved a step closer to that with the brace.

Kenyan international Erick Kapaito single handedly delivered victory for Arba Minch after bagging his maiden brace in the 2-1 win over Sidama Coffee in an Ethiopian Premier League clash played on Tuesday morning.

The 2020-2021 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) top scorer started alongside former Wazito FC defender Bernard Ochieng who was deployed at the heart of defence.

After a strong start to the clash, Arba Minch were finally rewarded for their efforts as Kapaito leaped highest to guide the ball into the back of the net with a textbook header, three minutes after the half hour mark.

Sidama Coffee which was home to Kenyan international Francis Kahata were not to stay behind for long as they restored parity two minutes later when Said Saladin fired the ball into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season.

Kapaito was in inspiring form as he won a penalty after getting to the ball ahead of a Sidama Coffee defender who tripped him in the process with the referee pointing to the spot.

The former Kariobangi Sharks forward stepped up to take the penalty and held his nerve to slot the ball home despite the best efforts of the goalkeeper to keep his spot kick out.

The second half had chances few and far between as Arba Minch locked the game in a bid to successfully bag three points and managed to do just that.

The victory propels Arba Minch to seventh on the log and eases their relegation woes with five games left till the end of the season.
