Kane scored his 500th career gol in a win over Bremen

The England captain managed this rare feat in fewer games than Cristiano Ronaldo

Harry Kane was in Tottenham for far too long. The Bayern Munich striker was always a terrific player, but he missed trophies. Since he moved to Germany, he not only won those trophies but also exploded even more. England’s captain was the main player for the Bavarians again today, and also managed a rare feat – with a brace against Bremen, he scored 500 goals for club and country! And he made it in fewer games (743) than Cristiano Ronaldo (753). One of his two goals in Bayern’s easy 3-0 win over winless Werder was scored after a penalty. Out of those 500 goals, 100 of them came from penalty kicks.

Werder started the game with a bit of initiative but failed to create any sort of chance. Unfortunately, that initiative lasted only a short time, and by the first 30 minutes of play, the guests were already 2-0. Young Karl made his way into the penalty area and was brought down by Lynen after a few dribbles. The referee initially didn’t give the penalty, but after a VAR check, Harry Kane came to the while spot and was precise again for the first goal of the match. Bremen lost the ball in front of their penalty area again just a few minutes later, and Kane wanted to assist, but since all his teammates were covered, he decided to take a shot. It was a precise attempt from 20 meters into the very bottom of the left post. A great goal for 2-0. Werder had only one good opportunity in the first half, but Agu’s powerful strike narrowly missed the far corner in the 40th minute.

The hosts had another good chance at the start of the second half. Grull’s header bounced clear off the post, and then Bremen then Njinmah fired wide across the goal, before Stage completed the trio of shots by firing over. Bayern soon took over but it was the home team with another great chance. Grull used a mistake from Kimmich in the 64th minute and sent in a perfect cross for Schmid. He volleyed a shot goalwards from the penalty spot, but his effort is straight at Urbig, who came in at halftime for injured Manuel Neuer. Bayern punished all those misses with a goal in the 70th minute, when Gortezka, who will be leaving the club at the end of the season, scored for the final 3-0.
