Kaizer Chiefs, home to Harambee Stars combative midfielder Anthony Akumu have beefed up their squad ahead of the new season with the acquisition of two players.

The Soweto based giants raided Stellenbosch and left with the Zitha Kwinika, a defender who is not new at Chiefs as he had a stint with them before and centre forward Ashley Du Preez.

Zitha, a product of the Amakhosi youth development team where he served as the skipper before being promoted to the senior team left the club in 2016 in a move aimed to give him more exposure and playing time.

The arrival of the two comes hardly a week after the club rung changes in the technical bench where Arthur Zwane was appointed head coach, replacing the sacked Englishman Stuart Baxter.

Zwane, a former Chiefs and the national team, Bafana Bafana during his active years signed a three-year contract with the outfit that finished fifth in the concluded season.

Zwane while commenting on the quality of the new arsenals said the two ticked right the boxes in as far as quality was concerned and remained hopeful that they would adapt to his philosophy within a short time.

"We are very happy to have acquired the services of the two players and look forward to welcoming them to the Village when we start with our preparations for next season,” says Coach Zwane. “The two lads have the qualities we need as Amakhosi and we believe they will quickly adjust to the Amakhosi way of play and deliver the goods for the millions of supporters who have been hungry for success for a number of years," he told club media.

His assessment of the two was echoed by the club's football management Bobby Motaung said the two will add punch in the respective departments.

" We know Zitha (previously Macheke) quite well because he was here with us until 2016. We have seen his growth and progress as a professional player over the years. We have also been impressed by Du Preez. He is young, fearless and has done remarkably well in the league. We believe they will add value to the team from next season, " he was quoted on the official club portal.
