Allegri wants two of his former players back in Turin

The Serie A season might be over, but for the non-players in Juventus, it has just started. The new manager Massimilano Allegri, along with new director Federico Cherubini and vice chairman Pavel Nedved were working out their transfer strategy in Turin. Allegi, as any other coach in the world, wants to have new players in the building as soon as possible, but a lot of that depends on the wheeling and dealing, football agents, EURO 2020 and other clubs.

For now, the trio made a transfer list with priorities and will try to work as quick as possible to make it happen. In midfield, Allegri would love to see Paul Pogba (again) and Miralem Pjanić (again). The Frenchman was quiet about his departure from Manchester United, as well as his manager Mino Raiola, but he so far didn’t made any statements which would overturn his initial plan - to leave Old Trafford this June. If Pogba really becomes available, it then becomes the question of money, and how much money Juventus has? He should have just enough, if they sell Cristiano Ronaldo. Relationship Allegri – Ronaldo hasn’t been good in Allegri’s first Juve reign, so maybe it would be better for everybody if the Portuguese leaves for PSG (or less likely to Manchester United) and his wage would be an enormous benefit to the transfer kitty. Pjanić is easier to get, as the Bosnian was swamped with Arthur last season and it didn’t end well: Pjanić hardly played this season for Barcelona, and the source of his misery – coach Koeman is staying for another year. So, a transfer back or at least a loan is a reasonable option. There are also reports that Barca could ask for a player swoop for Pjanic and the Spaniards want centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, left-back Alex Sandro or midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur.

In the attack, Allegri seems to be happy with Morata Dybala pairing. Morata will remain on loan in Turin for one more season, but Juventus could make his move permanent for 4.5 billion Ksh in 2022. Dybala was already on the move before Allegri came back, and the Italian wants to renew contract with the Argentinian. But, they need one more striker, which probably means that Ronaldo exit is likely, and Mauro Icardi is the top target. If the transfer becomes too complicated, Allegri has a backup option – Dušan Vlahović. The Fiorentina striker (21) has just been named the best young Seria A player who scored 21 goals this season, and would be a safe option as a reserve striker behind the two experienced forwards.

As for defense, Allegri is not so worried. Gigio Donnarumma remains a target for Juve, as he is the best young goalkeeper in all Italy, but Allegri relies on Wojciech Szczesny, and has no problem to work with the Pole. With Merih Demiral expected to leave, Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is also monitored by the Serie A giants.
