Jubilee for ruthless Man City: 20th consecutive win over Fulham

Reading Time: 3min | Thu. 12.02.26. | 08:25

The Cityzens ran riot against the London side, showing they won't give up easily in the title race - 3-0

It was September 18, 2011. Craven Cottage Stadium. Fulham hosted Manchester City in the fifth round of the Premier League and were trailing 2-0 from the 46th minute, thanks to Sergio Aguero's brace. Still, Bobby Zamora and Vincent Kompany's own goal salvaged a draw for the Cottagers.

Who would have imagined that that would be the last time they avoided defeat against the Cityzens?

Since that day 15 years ago, the London and Manchester sides have met 20 times in all competitions, and City have won each time! Last night was their jubilee, and they celebrated it in style, crushing the rivals - 3-0.

By the break, it was already 3-0, as the visitors scored three goals in the span of 15 minutes (between the 24th and 39th minutes) behind Antoine Semenyo, Nico O'Reilly, and Erling Haaland's goals.

Interestingly, each of them was scored after a counterattack or after Fulham's errors in their own half. City's pressing proved an unsolvable problem for Marco Silva's men, as they were in for a demolition after conceding three times before halftime.

During the break, Pep Guardiola made an interesting move, subbing off Haaland and replacing him with Omar Marmoush. An unexpected sub, but definitely a rest the Norwegian needed.

The game expectedly entered a peaceful phase, as both sides - and especially Fulham - were looking forward to the referee's final whistle. Guardiola exploited his team's comfortable lead to move Bernardo Silva and Matheus Nunes to the bench early in the second half, but City's dominance wasn't over.

Twenty minutes before the end, Rodrigo Muniz had a decent opportunity to score a consolation goal for the Cottagers, but Gianluigi Donnarumma kept his net intact. Even before that moment, and even if the seized the last chance for the Cottagers, it was clear that the EPL title race between the Cityzens and Arsenal would continue. The Manchester side is now three points behind, but Arsenal close the 26th round against Brentford on the road tonight (23.00).

Hence, the fireworks have yet to come!
