Frosinone had a bad time at the north of Italy - final score at the San Siro 3-1
Luka Jović registered his first AC Milan goal to help his side cruise to a 3-1 victory over homesick Frosinone, who have now lost five consecutive Serie A away matches.
Despite ending a four-game winless league run last weekend, AC Milan came into the contest looking for a positive response after losing 3-1 to Borussia Dortmund in Tuesday’s Champions League clash. To Milan’s frustration, their newly-promoted opponents provided stubborn resistance for the majority of the first period. When the hosts finally broke through the Frosinone backline, Yunus Musah could only hit the post with a strike that would have been chalked off for an offside infringement. The visitors were then presented with a golden chance to take a surprise lead through Marvin Çun, who raced through on goal, before being denied by the onrushing Mike Maignan. It proved to be a costly miss, as Jović broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute, showcasing his technical quality to volley home his first goal for the club.
Frosinone’s uphill challenge became even steeper when Christian Pulisic doubled Milan’s advantage within five minutes of the restart. The USA international brought down Maignan’s long pass with an exquisite first touch, before holding off the retreating defenders to neatly clip the ball past Stefano Turati. With Milan in complete control, Fikayo Tomori vanquished any doubt over the result, tapping in from Jović’s precise knockdown.
The newly-promoted side were at least able to celebrate a late consolation, as Marco Brescianini’s free-kick went through a sea of bodies before finding a home in the Milan net. Despite missing out on a clean sheet, the Rossoneri would have been pleased with their commanding performance, which tightened their grip on third spot. Meanwhile, the wait for a first away league win of the season goes on for Frosinone, who drop down to 11th place.
