Two Kenyans missed the matchday squad for their respective teams as Eric Johana's Södra suffered a heavy defeat.

Kenyan international Eric Johana’s Jönköpings Södra endured a torrid night after suffering a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Helsingborg while Jonah Ayunga and Magnus Breitenmoser missed Morecambe and Thun’s matches respectively.

Eric Johana

Former Mathare United midfielder Eric Johana was trusted with a start in Jönköpings Södra’s 3-0 defeat to Helsingborg in the Swedish Superettan (Second Tier) on Tuesday night.

Before Södra’s travelling fans could settle on their seats, Helsingborg grabbed the lead in the seventh minute Brandur Hendriksson Olsen, with the goal enough to take them into the halftime break with a lead.

Brandur Hendriksson Olsen turned provider for the second goal seven minutes after the half-hour mark by putting the ball on a plate for Anthony van den Hurk.

Johana was handed a yellow card in the 82nd minute for foul play as Helsingborg put the game beyond Södra minutes from time as Adam Kaied got his name on the scoresheet.

Jonah Ayunga

Kenyan forward Jonah Ayunga missed Morecambe’s 3-1 win over Crewe Alexandra in the English Football League (EFL) League One.

The forward is currently on the treatment table with head coach Stephen Robinson bemoaning his depleted forward line following another injury to Courtney Duffus.

“He’s (Duffus) got a thigh injury and it could be months. It seems the centre-forward position is cursed. Everyone we bring in to replace the injured one then gets injured,”

“Jonah Ayunga, I can’t see him being involved in the next eight or 10 days,” said Robinson in an interview before the match.

Morecambe went into the halftime break with a healthy 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Adam Phillips and Arthur Gnahoua but Mikael Mandron pulled one back for Crewe four minutes after the resumption of the second half.

Arthur Gnahoua put the game to bed for Morecambe five minutes to the final whistle to arrest their slump of two straight losses.

Magnus Breitenmoser

Kenyan midfielder Magnus Breitenmoser missed Thun’s 2-1 loss to Schaffhausen in the Swiss Challenge League (Second Tier).

Thun started the game on the front foot and were rewarded for their early efforts as Saleh Chihadeh put them ahead in the 11th minute.

A lapse in concentration however saw Schaffhausen restore parity three minutes later through Danilo Del Toro.

Ivan Prtajin sealed the three points for Schaffhausen in the 74th minute as Thun missed out on a chance to move to the promotion places.
