The former Mathare United forward scored his fourth and fifth goal of the season in his team's win yesterday
Kenyan international Eric Johana Omondi yesterday continued with his sublime form in the Swedish second division as his two goals in either half of the match propelled his Jonkoping Sodra side to third on the league standings after a 4-1 rout of struggling Akropolis.
In the last three games, Omondi has now found the back of the net at least once in consecutive matches. And following his brace yesternight, the former Kariobangi Sharks player now has five goals to his name in nine matches played so far in the 2021 campaign.
Here is a wrap of how the action unfolded.
Named in the starting eleven in the match staged at the Stadsparksvallen, Omondi quickly got off the blocks as soon as the eleventh minute, finishing off a Marcus Delegund assist to give his side an early lead in the match, making their intentions well known in the game.
Bottom of the log Akropolis, through Niklas Lindqvist, would however restore parity in the match with a strike in the 26th minute.
That goal that cancelled out the home team's lead proved momentary as four minutes later, Jonkoping once again conjured a formula that prised open the Akropolis defense, this time 22-year-old forward Adrian Edqvist squeezing the ball into the net to give Jonkoping the lead once again heading into the half time interval.
Twelve minutes upon second half's resumption, Moustafa Zeidan found the third goal that extended Jonkoping's lead in the 57th minute and gave his side some cushion in the game.
Omondi would get his second in the 71st minute after Robin Book set him up on goal. That goal which proved to be the final nail in Akropolis' coffin was the last meaningful contribution from the Kenyan international as he was replaced by Elias Nordstrom just seven minutes later.
In the end his brace contributing to Jonkoping's third successive win and a leap up to third on the log on 14 points just three shy of the top position. In turn, the defeat left Akropolis rooted at the bottom of the log.
