Jesus' Calvary: Arsenal lose their striker due to a horrible injury

Reading Time: 2min | Tue. 14.01.25. | 15:18

The Brazilian striker is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a suspected ACL rupture

It went from bad to worse for the Gunners.

After being eliminated from the FA Cup by Manchester United, Arsenal is facing another excruciating issue. Their top striker, Gabriel Jesus, could be facing a major spell out due to a suspected anterior cruciate ligament rupture (ACL).

As per The Athletic's David Ornstein, further specialist reviews are scheduled for Tuesday to establish the full extent of the damage. It is his left knee rather than the right, on which he had surgery back in 2022.

The Brazilian was taken off on a stretcher in the first half of the Manchester United tie, and the Gunners' boss, Mikel Arteta, said after the match that it was a 'big worry'.

Today, Arteta added:

"We know more now and it is not looking good at all. But we need to review one more specialist. So we will have more information this afternoon.

"I don't want to confirm anything until we have the final report this afternoon. We are very worried today."

Arsenal, who are facing Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Wednesday, are already without Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri.
