Former Bayern coach might take over from another former Bayern coach

One year until the European Championship, which will be played in Germany, the German national team looks scandalous. The last slap, just enough to sober up, was experienced last night by Japan in the middle of Wolfsburg (4:1), and the association reacted quickly today: Hansi Flick was fired! Germany is now hastily looking for a new coach because they were not happy with Flick: he did not even get past the group at the World Cup in Qatar, and no progress was made in matches after that. In order to avoid a debacle on their home field next June, it was decided that someone else would take over the national team.

The director of the German national team, Rudi Voller, explained:

"Hansi Flick has worn himself out over the past few months; together with his coaching team, he has given everything to get back after leaving the clubWorld Cup in Qatarto make a change for the better. Unfortunately, we have to realize today that it was not successful. TheJapan gamehas clearly shown us that we can no longer make any progress in this situation. This is not an easy moment for me, because I joined the DFB in February to support Hansi Flick in all my ways, to support him so that he can be successful in sport. And I firmly believed that as national coach he could manage to get our national team back on track." said Rudi Feller.

The former player will himself take the bench tonight against France with the help of Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner, and then the real ’hunt’ for the new coach will begin. Flick's record as national coach is devastating: only four wins from the last 17 games. This year, he managed just one win in six games (2-0 against Peru on March 25). Famous ’Bild’ stated that the Federation was thinking a lot about Flick's successor. Lothar Matthaus was mentioned, but he publicly rejected those claims. The remaining candidates are Julian Nagelsmann, Matthias Zammer, Oliver Glazner and Louis van Gaal. According to Bild, Nagelsmann is the main candidate.
