Macharia, who won two league crowns with Tusker, left the club at the end of last season
Jackson Macharia has kept a low since parting ways with twelve-time Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) champions Tusker last month.
Macharia who wore the Tusker shirt for seven years and nine months was among the more than half a dozen players who left Tusker last month under various circumstances.
Other players who left the brewery are the long-serving Humphrey Mieno, and the foreign duo of Kalos Kirenge, David Majak. Kevin Monyi, Michael Wanjala and Shami Mwinyi also bade the team farewell.
With the new season set to kick off this weekend, Macharia holds the cards close to his chest although he conceded that AFC Leopards had contacted him.
The midfielder who has played for the national team on a number of occasions remains confident of sealing a deal before the transfer window closes next month.
“I am not in a hurry to make a move. I am one player who values loyalty and, in this regard, I want to join a team that I will serve for long. I have played for Tusker for close to eight seasons and did five seasons with Thika,” he told Mozzart Sport.
Unconfirmed reports had earlier on linked the dreadlocked player with a move to Posta Rangers but, he was quick to deny that the mailmen had contacted him over a possible transfer.
“The only team that has expressed interest in my signature is AFC Leopards. They insist on offloading some players before making any other signing. Much as I am waiting to hear from them and any other interested club, I am calm and hopeful of getting a good deal,” he stated.
Meanwhile the midfielder disclosed that he has been keeping fit with Githurai All Stars since leaving Tusker.
“I have been training with Githurai for some time now. I also frequent the Tusker base in Ruaraka and use their gym,” he added.
