The returnees to the Premier League, Sunderland, brought in Brighton's Simon Adingra, who became their fifth reinforcement from Africa in the ongoing transfer window!

Following a nine-year absence, Sunderland will again play in the Premier League next season, rejoicing numerous English football fans, especially those who grew up watching the Black Cats' duels against the EPL giants.

However, based on Sunderland's transfer activity so far, it seems that they will be adored on the Mother Continent, as five out of six players they signed are African!

On July 1, the Black Cats announced the arrival of Senegal international Habib Diarra from Strasbourg for €31.5 million, a record amount the club spent on a player.

Three days later, Noah Sadiki arrived from the Belgian Union Saint-Gilloise, as Sunderland paid €17 million for the DR Congo international.

On July 8, the left-back from Mozambique, who spent the previous three seasons at Atletico Madrid, Reinildo Mandava joined the club from the east of England as a free agent.

Nevertheless, just a day later, Sunderland continued breaking the bank, signing Chemsdine Talbi from Club Brugge for €20 million. Truth be told, the 20-year-old winger was born in Belgium and played for this country's youth categories, but his descent is Moroccan.

Finally, the Black Cats' shopping spree ended (for now) today, when they announced the €24 million worth transfer of Brighton's Ivorian Simon Adingra, whose Premier League experience will significantly help in the upcoming campaign

In two seasons with the Seagulls, the 23-year-old made 60 EPL appearances and scored eight goals. Therefore, he is expected to be one of Sunderland's primary assets in their comeback season in the English football elite.

The only non-African player the club from the Stadium of Light brought is the Frenchman Enzo Le Fee, who arrived from AS Roma for €23 million, meaning that Sunderland spent over €115 million in the June Transfer Window so far!

Their Premier League rivals should be afraid.
