Eleven days after Sergio Busquets, another Barcelona and Spain legend, and Inter Miami player, revealed he'd hang up his boots
For those who remember his magnificent displays for Barcelona and Spain, this is proof of getting old. Those who were too young to watch him can't comprehend how much they missed. Either way, the end of another incredible career has been announced - Jordi Alba hangs up his boots.
Just eleven days after his ex-Barcelona and Spain teammate, and another football legend, Sergio Busquets, disclosed the same decision, the defender called it an end with a heartwarming social media post.
"Hello, everyone. The time has come to close a truly meaningful chapter in my life. I've decided to bring my professional football career to an end at the conclusion of this season. I do so with complete conviction, with peace, and with happiness."
"Because I feel I've walked this path with every ounce of passion I had... And now, it's the right moment to open a new chapter and close the previous one with the best possible feeling. Football has given me absolutely everything. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, staff members, club workers, and opponents who pushed me to give my very best," Alba started his farewell message.

He went on to thank all the clubs he played for, Atletico Centro Hospitalense, Cornella, Gimnastic de Tarragona, Valencia, Barcelona, and Inter Miami, as well as the Spanish national team. He also expressed his gratitude to his family, parents, brother, wife, and children for always being there for him.
"Today, I close this chapter, knowing I've given it my all. Football has been, is, and will be an essential part of my life. Thank you football. Thank you for everything," the 36-year-old stated in conclusion of his farewell note.
Alba's professional career lasted 19 years. He left the most significant mark at Barca, where he played from 2012 until 2023, winning as many as 17 trophies, including six La Ligas and the 2015 UEFA Champions League.
With La Furia Roja, the defender was the European Champion in 2012 and won the 2023 UEFA Nations League.
We won't be seeing Alba on the football pitch anymore. His hasty runs, precise crosses, and rather frequent goals (for a left-back) will be part of history from now on. However, no true football fan will ever forget the fiery lad from L'Hospitalet.
Thank you, Jordi! Enjoy your retirement.
