For many years, Piotr ZieliĆski has been on the radar of major European clubs, such as Juventus, Liverpool, and Bayern. Nerazzurri has long wanted the Pole, and they finally managed to bring him. A former Napoli player signed a contract with the Italian champion until 2028, worth around 4.5 million euros per season plus add-ons.
ZieliĆski played last season beyond his standard, recording only four goals and three assists in 35 games - certainly below average for a player of his quality. However, injury problems also affected his performance, so it was not all up to him. Now, Inter will give him a chance to get back on track.
The competition in Nerazzurri's midfield is fierce. Hakan ĂalhanoÄlu and NicolĂČ Barella are team leaders, and the Pole will have to put in a lot of effort to get his playing time. A positive thing for ZieliĆski is that he's spent his entire 12-year-long career in Italy and there is no need for further adaptation.
He played the best season of his career under Maurizio Sarri at Empoli, where he made a name for himself, becoming one of the best players in Serie A. Excellent performances under the experienced strategist recommended him to Udinese from which he moved to Naples in 2016. The season before last, he won the Scudetto with Napoli and was one of the most important cogs in Luciano Spalletti's machinery.
All in all, ZieliĆski still has a lot to offer and can cover practically all the positions in the midfield, hence Inter undoubtfully got another experienced and quality player. Now it's up to him to express those qualities and convince Simone Inzaghi that his place is in the starting lineup.
