Former Real Madrid midfielder got the late winner for Betis against plucky Osasuna
Real Betis secured back-to-back La Liga wins for the first time since October 2022 with a 2-1 victory over Osasuna - thanks to Isco's late strike. It was a remarkable game at Estadio Benito Villamarin as the green-and-whites scored in each half's added time to seal the dramatic victory.
After a hard-fought 1-0 midweek victory in Cyprus against Aris Limassol, Real Betis started with a lower-tempo approach against Osasuna, who were content to sit back and maintain their defensive shape. As the game progressed, Betis had to adopt a more direct style to create opportunities. However, Assane Diao and Marc Roca's long-range shots went well wide.
The speculative attempts did provide Betis with some momentum, and they began to threaten. Just before halftime, Betis was rewarded for their persistence when Isco delivered a low cross that found Willian Jose's well-timed run to the near post. Jose scored from six yards, marking his first goal in nearly two months.
Osasuna aimed to mount a comeback in the second half but had a goal ruled out for offside early on. Despite their positive start, they struggled to maintain their momentum, and Betis retained control of the match for most of the second half. Betis had an opportunity to seal the victory after a penalty decision was initially given for a foul on Diao but was later overturned by VAR. Osasuna capitalized on this and equalized with Ruben Garcia scoring five minutes from time.

As the game appeared headed for a draw, Isco delivered a moment of brilliance, smashing a first-time half-volley into the top corner after seizing on a loose ball in the penalty area. Real Betis extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches, while Osasuna remained without a win at the Benito Villamarín since January 2014.
