Harambee Stars are set to begin their World Cup qualifiers at home against neighbouring Uganda later on on 6th June but concern about player fitness by the time the qualifiers start continue to rise
According to Zoo FC head coach Herman Iswekha, should the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) fail to continue, the government through the ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage should bear the cost of hosting a select group of local players in camp so as to give the athletes much needed fitness by the time the World Cup qualifiers commence in June.

What do you think should be done for us to achieve the @FIFAWorldCup dream?#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/iJyhkmZAyt
Speaking in an interview with Mozzart Sport, Iswekha poured his thoughts about growing concern mainly for the national team who have now shifted their focus to making amends after disappointingly crashing out of the Africa Cup of Nations finals.
“I would love the league to continue, but now in terms of the national team, the suspension is a very big blow to them because in June the team starts the qualifiers. If the league will not resume, I would implore the government to intervene. I know the technical bench had already spotted potential players. So I would urge the government to take around fourty of those players and put them in camp where they train, stay together and do not leave. That would really help the national team,” the coach opined.
The coach, who celebrated his birthday only two days ago, also went ahead to laud the national team’s technical bench as well as the group of players that represented the country in the final two games of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo.

Some action from our match yesterday.
Let's carry the same energy into the upcoming World Cup qualifiers ????#Tunaweza pic.twitter.com/QeEgPYdYe5
“If you look at Harambee Stars’ recent performances, they had really improved. Congratulations to the coach and his technical bench for a job well done because they really scouted good players and those players really outdid themselves. It’s now unfortunate for them,” he added.

Mali and Rwanda are the other participants who make the group that Kenya has to overcome if they are to advance to the penultimate play off stages before they get to the World Cup finals.
