A several reliable sources reported that the deal is agreed

Finally, it’s coming to an end. For months, there has been speculation about where Viktor Gyokeres would end up, and things became even more dramatic when Sporting started tightening its stance regarding the transfer fee. Added to that was the commission for Gyokeres’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, which turned out to be one of the crucial factors. It seemed like a complete twist occurred on Sunday, when Portuguese media reported that Manchester United had submitted an offer of around 80 million euros. In hindsight, it appears that was just a pressure tactic to push Arsenal to move forward with the deal. On Tuesday afternoon, multiple reliable sources reported that Viktor Gyokeres's transfer has been agreed in principle, and only minor details remain to finalize the deal.

The full deal is expected to be 63.5 million fixed + 10 million in potential bonuses, although Sporting is still trying to squeeze out a few million more in bonuses. All relevant outlets confirm the deal won’t fall through and that only minor details remain before everything is 100% complete. The Swedish international will become Arsenal’s sixth signing so far, joining Kristjan Norgaard, Martín Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Noni Madueke, and Cristhian Mosquera. Last season, Gyokeres played 52 matches in all competitions for Sporting and scored 54 goals.

The Sweden international of Hungarian descent played in his homeland until the age of 20, before moving from Brommapojkarna to Brighton in 2018. He later went out on loan to St. Pauli and Swansea, but truly flourished in a Coventry shirt. In the 2022/23 season, he scored 21 goals for Coventry in the Championship, then transferred to Sporting for 24 million and played the football of his life at Alvalade. Now, it seems everything is done—Gyokeres will play on the world’s biggest stage starting next season.
