The “Naibos” recently booked their place among Africa’s elite clubs after securing qualification to the coveted group phase, marking a historic milestone for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL)debutants.
Speaking on Saturday, 8 November, head coach Nicholas Muyoti urged Kenyans to rally behind the team, as they embark on their quest to make history on the continental stage.
“We ask those who are yet to find a team to rally behind us and support us. We are Kenya’s representatives on the continent, and we expect to get the support. We welcome all those who have no team to stand with us as we head out to represent the country,” Muyoti said.
The coach admitted that competing at the continental level presents new challenges, but he believes his squad is ready to rise to the occasion.
“The continental stage has presented us with a welcome challenge. We are seeking to reach certain levels and also show that we deserve our status through our performances in the league,” he added.
Nairobi’s appeal came just hours after they extended their impressive domestic form, defeating Kariobangi Sharks 4-2 to climb to third place in the FKF Premier League standings.
The team will be competing in Group B alongside Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco, AS Maniema Union of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Azam Football Club of Tanzania.
According to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) schedule released on Tuesday, 4 October, Nairobi will kick off their campaign on Sunday, 23 November, with a daunting away fixture against Wydad AC in Casablanca.
The Moroccan giants, who boast vast continental experience, are expected to provide an early test for Muyoti’s side.
The team will then return home a week later, on Sunday, 30 November, to host AS Maniema Union at the Nyayo National Stadium, where they hope to capitalise on home advantage and secure vital points before the mid-season break.
After a short recess, United will resume group action on 25 January 2026 with another home fixture, this time against Azam FC of Tanzania, in a regional clash expected to draw a huge crowd.
The return leg will follow on 1 February 2026, when the Kenyan side travels to Dar es Salaam for what could prove a decisive encounter in their bid for qualification to the knockout phase.
