Ngunyi was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis that has ruled him out since the start of the year
Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Patrick Ngunyi is set to extend his time on the sidelines after the Football Kenya Federation Premier League side announced that the player will undergo surgery next Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Ngunyi was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis that has ruled him out since the start of the year but the midfielder will now have to face the knife to correct the joint problem.
“Patrick Ngunyi who was diagnosed with patellar tendonitis is set to undergo athroscopy on Tuesday 27th April 21,” the club posted on its social media platforms.

Ngunyi had earlier resumed training back in January alongside Peter Oudu but the midfielder now has to face the sidelines once again due to the medical procedure.
Ngunyi joins experienced defender Samuel Olwande on the list of players who have faced the knife this season for the team that currently sits in fourth place on the standings in the current suspended campaign. Olwande was forced to the medical table for a second time after being diagnosed with a cartilage tear on his ankle. Consequently, the defender was ruled for eight to ten weeks after being operated on at Kijabe Hospital in Limuru.

The first time Olwande underwent surgery was in February following a torn right knee meniscus, an injury sustained in a barren draw against Ulinzi Stars in January.
Sharks are currently eight points off the pace in the 2020/2021 season.
