Shaban Kenga is looking to maximize the Covid-19 enforced break to make a comeback from injury.

In the wake of the second suspension of sporting activities, sportsmen who will certainly have to bear the brunt which tags along the development will now take solace in the old adage which goes, every cloud has a silver lining.

The presidential decree left a huge cloud of uncertainty hanging over players who ply their trade in the Football Kenya Federation sanctioned leagues and their colleagues from other disciplines.

For the injured Bandari assistant captain Shaban Kenga, much as the announcement came as shock, the winger reckons that by the time the restrictions are revised and the ban lifted, he will have resumed training.

Kenga broke his limb in January during a league match against Western Stima at the Mbaraki grounds and was consequently ruled out for four months.

The experienced player who went under the knife after the incident had abandoned the crutches and he is anticipating to return to training and play in the final rounds of the season should the curve flatten.

"The progress has been good so far. I am walking on my own now and I hope the doctor will deliver positive news when I return to the hospital early next month. It is my prayer that I will be fit enough for light training when the restrictions are lifted," he revealed.

Shaban who renewed his contract in November last year thanked his teammates for their recent performances which he noted hastened his recovery. The Dockers found their winning mojo following the arrival of coach Andre Casa Mbungo in January and are unbeaten in the last six matches.

"The performance of the team is open for all to see. The team did not only do it for our fans but for me. Positive results have helped me erase the memories of the horror tackle and I am now focusing on my recovery and return to the pitch," he said.

The former Gor Mahia winger also thanked his family and Bandari honchos for supporting him from the time he was ruled out.
