Isuza joined Wazito last year in January from AFC Leopards and has two goals this season

Current Wazito FC midfielder Whyvonne Isuza has revealed the reason for his energetic weekly displays in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League where his side currently sit sixth in the league standings.

If you have watched Isuza play, then you have probably had a very tough day judging his performances on the pitch. Was he poor today? Bad body language? Meaninglessly energetic? One wonders. You cannot fault his work rate in any given match. One moment he’s tracking back defensively, the next he is up with the rest trying to make something work upfront for his team. And in an interview on the club’s magazine, the former AFC Leopards players revealed what motivates him to leave it all on the pitch by the time the center referee blows the final whistle.

“I believe talent alone is not enough. Talent must be accompanied by hard work. There is a call for footballers to play for the team rather than for individual gain because it is a team sport. That is why I always run my socks off for the team. I love to give my best on the pitch so that when I go home, I don’t have any regrets,” he is quoted saying.

The midfielder, who joined Wazito in the mid-season transfer window last year, also revealed his delight when he became aware that his former Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi would take over as the new boss.

“I knew he would improve the team. I understand what he demands from his players physically, tactically and technically. Equally, he knows my strengths and weaknesses and pushes me every day in training,” he said.

Interestingly, Isuza, who does not have any favorite sport besides football, listens to a lot of Kendrick Lamar and Diamond in the background as he deals with his favourite meal of chapatti and beans, dreaming to one day travel to Greece-his dream destination.

The 26 year old has two goals to his name in the 2020/2021 campaign.
