English striker opened up on the effect the lack of club trophies has on him

London Football awards - not that big of an event. David Moyes of West Ham won best manager, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal won best young Player, Fran Kirby of Chelsea is best woman footballer and Harry Kane won the best player.

Why are we mentioning all this? An interview after the awards led to Harry Kane finally giving a strong hint he might leave Tottenham Hotspur.

In the aftermath of being crowned the Premier League player of the year, Kane opened up and scared Spurs fans - he appears to have grown tired of constantly earning individual titles but having no team medals to his name.

His contract with Tottenham expires in June of 2024, but with Kane turning 28 this July, he is now in his prime and says that personal awards are becoming 'bittersweet' at this stage.

Huge clubs are after Kane, the likes of both Manchester giants are monitoring the situation with the Englishman.

Kane has chosen to speak out for the Evening Standard on his personal situation and admits he wants to be 'winning the biggest prizes.'

'Individual awards are great, they are fantastic achievements.

'When I look back at the end of my career, I will go over it and take in a little bit more. The goal right now as a player is to win team trophies. As much as this is great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team and we are not quite doing that.

'It is one of those situations, it is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies and this award. It is what it is.'

Kane's most recent loss in a trophy battle was in the Carabao Cup as Tottenham lost to Man City.

It is the second time Kane has tasted defeat on the big stage - Liverpool stripped Spurs off Champions League glory in 2019 in Madrid.

England captain admits he takes great pride in winning such prestigious award, but points out that his career may end up feeling unfulfilled without club trophies.

'I am proud to win it. It means it has been a good season on the pitch, so I have just got to try and continue what I am doing.

'For sure, if I finish my career as Premier League top goalscorer and, hopefully, England top goalscorer, that'd be incredible — but it wouldn't feel as good if I didn't have a lot of team trophies to go with that. If I didn't have the Premier League or a European Championships to go with that.

'From an individual point of view, of course that's the end goal, to try and score as many goals as possible and be at the top of those charts. But, for sure, without winning the biggest trophies as a team, it wouldn't feel as good.'

If he leaves - and his ambitions and the time it takes for Tottenham to become competitive for the trophies again imply that he will leave - City are the forerunners in the chase for Kane's signing.

Pep Guardiola seems hungry as ever to win the Champions League and to collect more trophies with the Citizens and such mentality should be appealing to Kane. With Aguero leaving the club at the end of the season, rotation of the strikers at Etihad sees an empty spot.

Sky Blues are not alone in the hunt - the red side of Manchester would be thrilled to have a scorer with such killer instinct, conversion rate and taste for assists.

This season Kane has played 44 matches in all competitions - he scored 31 goals and set up his teammates for 16 more. Amazing.
