After the shortest loan in history and a contract termination at Villarreal, Paco Alcacer has gone to UAE

If you think you've had a busy day, then you have no idea how it was for Spanish striker Paco Alcacer. The classy 28-year-old goalscorer joined Al Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates on a season-long loan just two days ago, but in only got busy on Friday.

Firstly, the Arabic club announced that Alcacer's loan has been called off and that the striker is going back to Spain. Not long after, Villarreal announced that they'd terminated Alcacer's contract at El Madrigal that was supposed to run until 2025.

Just as everyone started to wonder about what the heck is going on with the Spain international, but it all made much more sense a mere hour later when Al Sharjah announced that they'd signed Alcacer on a three-year contract.

Paco's three years at Villarreal weren't as successful as the Yellow Submarine fans wanted. He arrived from Borussia Dortmund for $25.3 million but failed to live up to the hype. He started just 40 games in three seasons and scored 11 goals. He was, however, an important part of the club's 2021 Europa League win with six goals.

There are question marks above Alcacer's mental state. For any player to depart La Liga for an (undoubtedly) big-money offer from the Middle East has to be treated a questionable one. It looks like the striker has given up ion serious football at the highest level.
