His Belgian club is expected to play two pre-season friendlies in Austria.
Kenyan international Joseph Okumu has been included in the 26-man KAA Gent squad heading to Austria for pre-season training as the team steps up its preparations for the 2022-2023 season.
During their pre-season tour to Austria, Gent are expected to play Croatian outfit Hajduk Split and Greek side Aris Thessaloniki before returning to Belgium to finalise their pre-season with two other games.
Gent will play Danish side Midtjylland and fellow Belgian outfit SK Beveren before kicking off their season on Sunday 17 July with a Super Cup clash against league winner Club Brugge.
Okumu heads over to Austria at a time when he has been linked with a number of teams with the latest entrants to the race for his signature being Italian side Atalanta.
The former Chemelil Sugar defender has also attracted interest from Scottish giants Celtic, English Premier League outfit Arsenal and German side Borussia Dortmund.
Since making the move from Swedish side Elfsborg to Gent, Okumu’s career has continued on its upward trajectory where he scored three goals in 46 games.
