In-demand City Stars hot-shot Etemesi signs new contract

Nairobi City Stars striker Kelvin Etemesi has signed a one-year contract extension with Simba wa Nairobi ending speculation surrounding his future.

The striker had been linked with a host of clubs in the last few weeks. AFC Leopards, Ulinzi Stars and KCB were all after the former Kangemi All-Stars man but he has opted to stay with the Nicholas Muyoti-led outfit for at least one more season.

A source close to the player has confirmed the decision to continue with Simba wa Nairobi for the 2023-24 FKF Premier League campaign.

“He has renewed his contract with City Stars. He took his time to think through all the bids that he had received and decided to stay at City Stars to continue with his development,” the source told Mozzart Sport.

Etemesi was in sensational form in the second leg of the just ended season, scoring 12 goals in the second leg and played an important role in helping the club retain its top-flight status.

He joined the club at the start of last season from Kangemi All-Stars. He struggled to get goals in the first leg before coming into life in the second as the team’s lead striker.

Other players who have renewed their contracts with the club include Newton Ochieng, Pius Omachi, Clifford Ouma, Dennis Oalo, Calvin Masawa, Edwin Buliba, Andrew Kisilu and Timothy Muganda.

Those who have departed include Salim Abdallah, Ezekiel Odera, Steve Njunge, Herrit Mungai, Kennedy Onyango and Jacon Osano.

Meanwhile left-back Dennis Wanjala who had last week been spotted training with Kakamega Homeboyz has resumed training with the Kawangware based club.
