The Ghanaian attacker paused his celebrations on Sunday to honour the memory of his mother and father following K’Ogalo’s successful reclaiming of the league crown.
Adukwaw joined Gor Mahia on 3 September, 2025, signing a two-year contract from Ghana Premier League side Bechem United ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Before featuring for Bechem, the winger had also turned out for Skyy in Ghana and Kosovo outfit KF Trepça ’89.
Just four months before sealing his move to the Kenyan giants, Adukwaw lost his mother, Augustina Boadi, who passed away on 13 May, 2025.
Months later, tragedy struck again following the death of his father, forcing the winger to navigate his first full football season without both parents.
The emotional burden was evident earlier in the season after he scored a crucial goal against Kariobangi Sharks in the FKF Premier League and dedicated the strike to his late parents.
“I had to score in that game for my mom and dad because this is the first year without both of them,” he said at the time.
Now, after helping Gor Mahia reclaim the league title, the Ghanaian winger has once again reflected on the painful journey that culminated in Sunday’s celebrations.
“I've been through so many difficult times in my life, and today is an incredible moment. I'm very happy. I'm living a dream now. I have cried a lot,” said Adukwaw.
The winger, who comes from a family of more than seven siblings, later poured out his emotions in a heartfelt message dedicated to his departed parents.
“This win is for you, Mom and Dad. If wishes were horses, I would wish you both were here to witness today. Your son made history today, but I know wherever you both are, you are proud of me.
It hasn’t been easy, but I will keep making you guys proud. Forever in my heart,” he wrote.
Adukwaw has been part of a strong Ghanaian contingent at Gor Mahia during the 2025/26 campaign.
The record Kenyan champions currently have four Ghanaian players in their ranks, including former Black Stars forward Ebenezer Assifuah, midfielder Enock Morrison, attacking midfielder George Amonoo, and Adukwaw himself.
Beyond the playing unit, Gor Mahia’s technical bench has also carried a heavy Ghanaian influence, with former Ghana national team head coach Charles Akonnor leading the side alongside assistant coach Kobi-Mensah Bismark and goalkeepers trainer Ben Owu.
The Ghanaian connection ultimately played a role in helping K’Ogalo reclaim the FKF Premier League title after rivals AFC Leopards suffered a damaging 2-1 defeat to APS Bomet at Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday.
With two matches left to conclude the campaign, AFC Leopards needed a victory to keep pressure on Gor Mahia in the title race. However, Fred Ambani’s side failed to capitalise, leaving K’Ogalo four points clear at the summit.
Gor Mahia now sits on 68 points from 32 matches, while AFC Leopards remain second on 64 points with only one game left to play, confirming the title’s return to the green side of Nairobi.
