
Hussein Mohammed, three more Kenyans land roles at FIFA

FKF President Hussein Mohammed and two other Kenyans are part of the beneficiaries of the latest positions filled by the World's football governing body - FIFA.
FIFA reconstituted its Council, Independent Standing Committees to reflect the change of membership from various federations.

Hussein joins the powerful Institutional Relations Committee as a member.
Romania’s Razvan Burleanu will represent the committee at the FIFA Council, while Adwa Al Arifi of Saudi Arabia will serve as its chairperson and be deputized by Bjorn Vassalo from Malta.
The committee will be tasked with, among others, strategic guidance on relationships, monitoring compliance with governance standards, and promoting FIFA’s global influence.
The committee is also responsible for strengthening FIFA’s relationships with Confederations and national associations, as well as advising on sponsor and partner relationships.
This appointment marks Hussein's first major role in international football since taking over the reins of Kenyan football in December 2024 from Nick Mwendwa.
Nominated NEC member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim has also reaped from FIFA goodies after landing a role as a member of the Stadium Security Committee.
The committee is responsible for crowd control, fan behavior, communication, access control, and terrorism prevention.
Costa Rica’s Rodolfo Villalobos will serve as the committee's FIFA Council Delegate, while Frank Paaw of the Netherlands will be the chairperson and deputized by Algeria’s Walid Sadi.
Kenyans also found a place in the Ethics Committee through Janet Katisya.
The committee will be headed by Martin Ngoga and deputized by Canada's Bruno De Vita and Malaysia’s Parusuraman Subramainian.
Katisya is a seasoned sports lawyer with over 20 years of post-admission legal practice, an expertise that she will take to FIFA in its investigatory and adjudicatory functions.
At the continental level, CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe will continue with his role as one of the seven FIFA Vice Presidents.
